After making it through her first year as a page, Kel is permitted to return. She is treated no better than she was the year before. Kel tries to make it into the hard heart of Wyldon of Caval, the swords master. Kel has only a few friends who may not be enough to help her pass the pages’ test at the end of four years.
Meanwhile, someone is trying to stop Kel from moving on. She is constantly picked on and beaten. Something important to Kel is stolen just minutes before her exam. Will Kel be able to rescue it before time runs out, or will those four years of torture be for nothing?
