Sderot is a town in the Negev desert in Israel. Many of the 20,000 residents are immigrants from North Africa, Ethiopia and Russia. The rockets in Sderot began in 2000 when Gaza militants made defective rockets from household supplies. The rockets powerfully continue today with larger and more advanced missiles.
The people of Sderot are now accustomed to having 15 seconds to run to a bomb shelter every time the “color red” siren sounds. Every person in this community has personally experienced a qassam rocket falling near them and knows at least one of the victims. Thousands of people are currently being treated for shock. The children of Sderot know no other way of living and are suffering from post traumatic stress disorder. Many people have suffered life changing injuries.
